Anchor Scripture: Acts 4:31–34
There is power in every word that comes from God. We must not play with the Word because He is the Word. His Word can build or destroy, heal or harm, bless or curse. It carries life and death—Proverbs 18:21 makes this clear.
Words are powerful. They can unite or separate, lift someone up or tear them down. As believers, we should be careful about what we say. Jesus warned in Matthew 12:36–37 that we will give an account for every careless word. May God help us to always speak words that bring life.
When a father speaks over his children, it comes to pass. That’s how powerful words are. So we must get rooted in God’s Word (Acts 12:21–23). In Joshua 1:8, God told Joshua to pass the Word down to the next generation. Today, we have access to the Word through so many platforms—apps, podcasts, videos—yet we often neglect it. How much time do we actually spend in the Word?
Dimensions of the Word
1. Where the Word Works on Me
This is where growth happens. The Word is like a mirror. You look into it and see who you really are. You see God in you. It shows you the things you need to change. It convicts, not just comforts. It doesn’t just cover your flaws—it confronts them. At this stage, you allow the Word to take root.
2. Where the Word Works for Me
This is when the Word goes to work on your behalf. You speak it in faith and send it like a message into the world (2 Corinthians 4:13). You believe it and watch it produce results.
3. Where the Word Works Through Me
Here, you’ve surrendered yourself. You’re no longer just a hearer—you’re a carrier. God works through you. You speak the Word into situations. You align yourself with God’s truth. You become His vessel.
Proof That God’s Word Has Power
Genesis 1:3–4: God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light.
Matthew 5:18: Not even a tiny piece of God’s Word will fail.
Isaiah 55:11: The Word will always accomplish what God sends it to do.
1 Timothy 3:16: All Scripture is inspired by God.
1 Kings 17:1: Elijah spoke the Word, and it happened.
How to Be Filled with the Word
Regular personal study – Read or listen to the Word constantly.
Meditation – Spend time thinking on the Word (Joshua 1:8).
Fellowship – Attend Bible Study, Sunday School, and discussions where you can ask questions and grow.
Memorising and speaking – Don’t just read once. Keep reading. Keep declaring.
Be filled with the Holy Spirit – Like in Acts 2:41–42, the Spirit makes the Word come alive.
Why You Need the Word
It gives direction in uncertain times (Psalm 119:105).
It convicts of sin.
It comforts and heals the brokenhearted.
It purifies (Psalm 119:9).
It helps us fight temptation (Matthew 4:1–4).
It’s a weapon in spiritual warfare (Jeremiah 23:29, Ephesians 6:17, Matthew 16:19).When you speak the Word, the devil flees.
Conditions for the Word to Work in Your Life
Be obedient (Isaiah 1:19).
Live righteously (Matthew 5:6, 6:33).
Speak the Word in faith – Don’t just say it, believe it.
God is calling us to stay consistent in His Word. Don’t just visit the Word—live in it. Let it change you from the inside out. Let it work in you, through you, and for you.
