What Does It Mean to Believe?
To believe in God goes beyond just acknowledging His existence; it’s about accepting His truth with full conviction. According to the dictionary, belief means to accept something as truth or have a deep religious persuasion. For a believer, it means recognizing that God is who He says He is and trusting that His promises are unwavering.
In simple terms: Belief = Truth.
Every Choice We Make Counts
Proverbs 16:2 reminds us that God weighs the intents of our hearts. Every decision we make matters to Him, and it’s crucial that we place our full trust in Him.
When we do so, God promises to make our way straight. We are not called to walk aimlessly or alone—God will guide us if we surrender our hearts to Him.
God is not a tyrant; He respects our free will, but when we choose to trust in Him, He will never fail us.
Confession of Faith in God
Believing God is not just a matter of internal conviction—it’s a public confession of that faith.
Romans 4:13 emphasizes that faith is key to stepping into God’s promises.
Romans 4:20-21 illustrates how Abraham’s unwavering faith positioned him to receive the fulfillment of God’s promises.
Faith is the force that moves us forward, propelling us to partake in everything God has for us.
We must trust in God's Word, knowing that He is steadfast and true.
The Role of Faith in Receiving from God
Faith is essential if we are to see the fulfillment of God's promises in our lives.
James 1:5-6 teaches that when we ask God for anything, we must believe without doubt. A covenant-keeping God will always honor His Word.
Numbers 23:19 assures us that God does not lie—whatever we have the faith to believe for, He will grant.
Hindrances to Experiencing God's Power
Though God’s promises are sure, there are things that can hinder His move in our lives. Here are some potential barriers:
1. Misuse of the Tongue
1 Peter 3:10 and Proverbs 21:23 warn us that our words have power.
Mark 11:23 teaches that instead of complaining about our challenges, we are to take them to God. Jesus modeled this by always turning to God with His concerns, and we should do the same.
2. Facing the Wall—Turning Away from Distractions
In Isaiah 38:1-5, King Hezekiah turned his face to the wall as an act of focused prayer, away from distractions.
In today’s context, facing the wall means turning away from social media, traditional media, and anything else that could distract us from hearing from God.
2 Timothy 2:23 calls us to avoid foolish arguments and distractions that prevent spiritual growth.
3. Heart Commitment to God
1 Samuel 16:7 reminds us that God sees beyond external actions and into the heart.
It’s essential that our hearts remain pure and fully committed to God. If we are lukewarm, we miss out on the fullness of His blessings.
4. Owning and Learning from Mistakes
Proverbs 28:13 teaches that we must be willing to acknowledge our mistakes, learn from them, and move forward.
True growth comes when we admit where we’ve faltered, own those mistakes, and allow God to teach us through them.

Conclusion
When we truly believe God and trust in His promises, we will see His power at work in our lives. Faith isn’t just a passive belief—it’s an active choice to believe in the truth of God's Word and to live in full confidence of His ability to perform it. We must avoid distractions, guard our hearts, and use our words wisely as we journey forward in faith.
Have an amazing week ahead.
Shalom, shalom.
