ANCHORING SCRIPTURE: JOSHUA 10:1-14
Things around you might suggest that you can't get it done. It's impossible. But I want to remind you today: God will bring you to glory in Jesus' name.
God responds to brazen faith.
“If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth,” as written in Mark 9:23. It doesn’t matter what men have told you about your situation. They may say your case has no solution, but I assure you—God will make the impossibility possible.
Battles Are Our Natural Habitat
As children of God, battles are our natural habitat. We will always contend as long as we are in this world. But here's the assurance we have: We are not alone. The Lord has promised us, “I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.” Our battles are not against flesh and blood but against principalities, powers, and spiritual wickedness in high places.
Beware of the Enemy's Tools
Joshua 9:4 sets the tone for our discussion. The devil has tools in his arsenal, and he is quick to use them. Beware!
The devil will always sow seeds of discord among brethren. It’s his stock in trade, like he did with Cain.
He will always suggest things to pander to our selfish desires, like he did with Adam.
He will suggest betrayal by exploiting places of power, like he did with Judas. Beware!
He will suggest pride and boastfulness to stroke your ego, like Samson’s overconfidence with Delilah that led to his downfall.
These situations may also be tests of faith. Sometimes, God allows them to strengthen us—not tear us down. The Lord is full of hope that we will pass these tests when we are tried. Delay may seem like denial, but be assured—the devil's lies will not stand. Your prayers are working.
Steadfastness and Faith
The Lord is encouraging you today to be steadfast. Keep up the tempo and do not be discouraged. He has said it, and so it will be. Like a stone under the mason's hammer, one day it will break—and that break will be sudden and absolute in Jesus' name.
We, as God's children, will not be mocked. Do not worry about what others say. Reassure yourself with this simple question: “What has the Lord said?” Joshua 9:15.
The Importance of Our Words
There are some pitfalls many Christians fall into. Your words are binding. Never make an oath you cannot keep. Be mindful of what you promise. If your words mean nothing, then you would not be bound by them. We must be careful of who or what we make promises to, especially in times of heightened emotion.
Take, for example, the story with the Gibeonites in Deuteronomy 7:2. They too were ensnared by the words of their mouth. Their fear led them to bind themselves to servitude, possibly to their own disadvantage.
Are you fearful like they were? Do not be so quick to blurt out promises in fear.
Repentance and Restoration
Are we perfect? No. There will be times we falter. The right workflow is repentance. We cannot wallow in sin and self-pity. We must be accountable and seek God’s face in mercy. “Wherever there is repentance, there too is forgiveness.”
Joshua made the best of his mistake and used what he could gather to bring honor to God. Real success is built on the bones of mistakes and failures. Thomas Edison’s story of how he created the light bulb should inspire us.
Brethren, do not destroy your dreams. Believe!
Proclamation
God will back you up!
From every impossibility, you shall experience God’s miracle in Jesus’ name.
Four Things to Consider When You Are in Error
Chastisement: When you are chastised, do not take up a shield. Be calm, listen, and embrace corrections.
Repentance: When you are convicted of your shortcomings, do not become prideful. Genuinely accept and humble yourself.
Restoration: Do not wallow and drown in self-pity. Allow the Lord to have His way and turn around your mistakes, just like He did with Joshua in Joshua 10:6.
Wisdom: Be mindful of what you say, especially in times of fear and heightened emotions, just as we see with the Gibeonites.
Prayer
You spirit of "Fear-of-tomorrow" assigned against me, I bind you in Jesus' name.
Father concerning this fearful situation [insert situation], Father fix it in Jesus' name.
The fear and terror of the unbeliever shall not be my lot in the name of Jesus Christ.
Father, I place my hands into Yours; all I am hoping for, place them in my hands in Jesus' name.
Father in this Canada, I WILL BREAKTHROUGH in Jesus' name. No man will stand against me in Jesus' name.
Father, like You did for Joshua, whatever needs to stand still for me to progress and triumph, let them stand still until I succeed in Jesus' name.
Father, like Uzziah, whatever needs to die for me to attain and fulfill my destiny, let them fall for my sake in Jesus' name.
May you wax strong as you believe. He will do the impossible, which ONLY He can do.
Shalom, Shalom.
