ANCHORING SCRIPTURE(S): 1 THESSALONAINS 2 v 10 - 27
Power is the ability to do something or to act in a particular way. It is the ability to influence or direct change in various aspects of life, be it political, social, or even mathematical. Wherever there is power, there is change.
The Word is Jesus Christ, the Son of God, and also God Himself. As stated in John 10:30, Jesus and the Father are one. John 1:1, 14 further confirms this truth.
When we combine these truths, we understand that there is power in Jesus, and there is power in God’s Word. This power is demonstrated throughout the Bible and is available to all who believe.
The Impact of God’s Word
A statement carries power based on the authority of the one who speaks it. In Genesis 1, before creation, the earth was void. But in Genesis 1:3, God said, “Let there be light,” and light came forth. This highlights that God’s voice is impactful and brings change. Everything created in Genesis 1 came to be through the power of His spoken Word.
This same power exists in the Word of Jesus, as seen in Colossians 1:16. Jesus, being one with God, carries the same power, and as believers, we also carry that power.
Jesus’ Authority Over All Things
Matthew 17:1-5 – Everything responds to Jesus.
Mark 5:35-42 – Faith in God’s Word makes all things possible. We should not be afraid but only believe.
When Jesus went to Jairus’ house and declared that Jairus’ daughter was only asleep, people laughed at Him. Similarly, if people could mock Jesus, they could mock us too. However, Jesus removed the unbelievers from the room before performing the miracle. We must also distance ourselves from those who discourage our faith.
Our miracle is on the way if we keep believing in the Lord.
2 Chronicles 20:20 – Trust in the Word of God and see all things become possible.
The Power Given to Believers
The same works Jesus did, we can also do. We do not need to be prophets to walk in the power of God. Examples from Scripture include:
1 Kings 17:1, 18:1 – God backed up the word of the prophet Elijah.
1 Kings 13:1-5 – God honored the words spoken by His prophet.
Acts 13:9-11 – When Elimas opposed Paul, he was struck with blindness as Paul spoke with authority.
Lamentations 3:37 – God has given us the power to speak His Word as joint heirs with Christ.
Romans 8:17 – We share in Christ’s inheritance, including His authority.
Job 22:28 – We shall decree a thing, and it shall be established.
Key Takeaways
Believe in God and His Word, and see all things become possible (Luke 1:37).
Believe in His prophets, and you will prosper. If you don’t understand something, return to the Bible for clarity.
Speak only positive things about yourself. Words have the power to build or destroy.
Prayer: “Father, Fill Me with Your Spirit to Overflow”
Decrees
Father, I declare:
I know the truth, and the truth sets me free.
I have bold access to Your throne to find mercy and grace in times of need.
I am successful as I meditate on and apply Your Word in my life.
There will be no more sorrow or heartache in my life, family, or ministry.
I shall not be used as a bad example in this generation.
There will be no more failure of any kind in my life.
Make your personal decree to God and stand in faith for its fulfillment.
Conclusion
The Word of God is powerful, transformative, and available to all who believe. We must trust in God’s Word, align ourselves with His promises, and boldly declare His truth over our lives. Just as God spoke creation into existence and Jesus demonstrated the authority of His Word, we too can walk in this power and see God’s hand move mightily in our lives.
